The Pareto Paradox: Doing Less, Creating More

History
In 1896, Vilfredo Pareto noticed that 20% of his garden peas produced 80% of the harvest. Later, he saw the same pattern in economics, business, even society. Today, we call it the 80/20 rule.

Reflection
It’s not about doing more. It’s about finding the few actions that create the most impact. The paradox: subtraction often leads to expansion.

Technique — Subtract to Expand

  • List all your current tasks.

  • Circle the top 20% that bring the most value.

  • Cross out at least one thing from the other 80%.
